If experience tells us one thing – Buying a Leather Jacket is very different from choosing almost every other constituent part of your wardrobe!
The inherent nature of Leather means that its fit, feel and look are different from all other clothing types. A good quality Leather Jacket will normally shape and mould to the wearer in a way that is completely unique. As a result, we at Simons Leather actively encourage any potential customer to contact us if they have any questions that need answering prior to a purchase decision being made. Whilst we publish a “sizing chart“, this predominantly acts as a gauge rather than a definitive indicator.
Changes to Multiple High Street Store manufacturing practices means that many people struggle to identify their true clothing sizes. However, our daily interaction with customers coupled with our in-depth product expertise means that we ‘know’ how each and every one of our Leather Jackets and Coats fit. We are especially adept at finding broader garments to fit our larger customers’ particular needs. Similarly, where garments are more narrowly cut we are, again, able to point customers in the right direction.
Sometimes these customers will have specific requirements outside our normal product offering. Under these circumstances we are happy to send the purchased garment so that the client can primarily ascertain its fit. Once they are happy that the shape, style, and fit are suitable the garment can be returned and a brand new Leather Jacket can be manufactured to their own specification. In this way we are able to change elements of the style, fit, type of leather and colour. For example, we can lengthen the garment for taller customers; change the pocket shape; add cuffs; change the standard colour etc. Any such changes are carried out with full customer co-operation and normally involves a small additional charge dependent upon the nature and scope of the alterations. This means, therefore, that we are effectively, able to offer a ”made to order service”, without the penalty of charging a premium price to the customer. A service which differentiates us from most of our competitors and illustrates how we are willing to go a little bit further to satisfy our customers needs.
Take the example of SL1136 – our Classic Mens Leather Blazer
Under the circumstances as previously described – a customer could order a Standard Size Large in Black Leather at our current Special Offer Price of £135.96. Once satisfied that the fit was correct a new garment could be made to his new specifications – For example, he might be unusually tall and order a new garment to be made 2″ longer in both the body and the sleeves. He might also want a double vent to be put into the back and the handkerchief pocket to be removed from the front of the Jacket. The additional changes to this particular garment would be approximately £40 (effectively only £10 more than the original price!). Lead times are generally no more than three weeks from date of order until customer despatch; and there is no additional postage charge from our end!
